#MyESCinValencia: The one where I decide to go

Dernière mise à jour : 29 janv. 2023

Hi! I'm Alessia and I’ve been a volunteer in Aicem for a while now, and I clearly remember when I started as an intern the satisfaction of being able of putting into practice what I could just imagine by studying from books!

Education is fundamental! But what I could extensively learn during my years in Aicem is that education is a much more broaden concept than you can imagine. And once you learn this, it’s only up to you to decide how much investing on this new awareness and how much

you want to put yourself outside of your confort zone in order to learn more and more, at different levels.

As said, it started as an internship, in 2017, and in these years I had the chance to know more and more about the opportunities for young people, especially the ones offered by the European Commission and European Union.

I got to know youth exchanges better, training courses, solidarity and volunteering projects;

and through them, I got to explore topics such human rights, sustainable development goals, gender equality… I got to understand and be part of the world of youthwork and how to redact project proposals in order to be able to propose to others new experiences.

And all this gave us a chance, as organization, to provide to many other young people opportunities to go abroad, explore, learn, meet with their peers from so many other countries…

Besides participating in relatively short experiences, at a certain point I decided I wanted to try something different and so, I decided to rely on AICEM to take part in my ESC project…in Valencia!

It’s May, I just arrived and I can’t wait to start working with my hosting organization ESFMB - Escola Sindical de Formació Melchor Botella…with this new role of ESC volunteer and, in a way, as an AICEM ambassador.
