"Olá! I’m Caterina, I’m 24, and I’m from Italy. I am in Porto, Portugal, to join a year-long volunteer project at a temporary centre for asylum seekers.

February passed by very quickly, continuing mostly with the kind of activities I did in january. The centre keeps receiving families with children so I have been trying to find new ways to keep them entertained. As the weather improved we have been playing football and other games outside.

Because of Valentine’s Day we organised some activities to decorate the centre and at the end of the month we have done the same to prepare for Ramadan, as a large group of people living here is muslim. Since many people have been coming and going this month I have accompanied the staff picking them up and welcoming them, helping with translations when needed. In my free time I have been mostly working on my thesis but I have spent time with some friends that came to visit and my parents as well, exploring the beach.

Additionally I keep playing football with my Portuguese friends and hang out after work with some colleagues. "
