"Olá! I’m Caterina, I’m 24, and I’m from Italy. I am in Porto, Portugal, to join a year-long volunteer project at a temporary centre for asylum seekers.

January was a very active month, as in the centre we received many families with children and needed to organise activities to keep them entertained. I participated in organising many creative activities such as painting and sculpting, and more sporty ones like dance classes and table tennis tournaments. I also managed to get a friend to volunteer for a juggling workshop that the children loved.

This month I didn’t have a lot of free time, but I spent most of it with some colleagues who became close friends, and also celebrated the birthday of one of them. I got involved in cultural activities such as dancing events from Portugal and Brazil and a multicultural forum organised by one of my colleagues that managed to bring together a community of migrants in Portugal to share and enjoy food from our home countries."
