I’ve been in ESFMB and in Valencia for 5 months now, for a European Solidarity Corps project, funded by the European Union, that will last until May 2022.
And the most valuable thing I learned so far is the importance of taking a chance, when offered. It was what led me here to Valencia from Italy in the first place, and what is guiding me in this experience.
I’m not new to the organizations’ world, so I know the importance and the value of the time you spend in entities like ESFMB, or my sending organization AICEM.
Made by people, for sure working or volunteering there, but also guided by important values and principles.
So it was great to arrive here as a volunteer and see that those people were willing to pass their knowledge and have the occasion to grow together. It was an opportunity not to miss, and I really decided to take it.
I was not wrong. Since my arrival, in fact, many are the projects that I had the occasion to support: as writer, as participant, as observer. In the end tools to accomplish something meaningful like offering occasions to young people, directly or even indirectly by training the people they will be accompaigned by in their growht.
My greatest discovery in my ESC experience in ESFMB until now, I would say, is the world of the Formación Profesional, the value it has in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, and the importance of giving to young future professionals the opportunity to grow professionally, but even personally and culturally.
It involves in fact Young Europeans ready To be welcomed in the beautiful Valencian Country or young Valencians leaving to bring a little piece of their Country in all Europe.
It really is something I think it’s worthy to be replicated in many territories for so many young people more, so who knows…maybe this is what is going to be next for me! Maybe I’ll take another chance…
It was a really intense 5 months that already filled my personal knowledge luggage, but I’m sure they are a clear reflex of the next 7 I’ll be spending in learning and developing my skills, competences and attitude.
